Shock, disbelief, delight, consternation, praise, abuse – The huge impact of yesterday’s report
And yet another former government minister just can’t admit he was wrong
Vast numbers of people were hit in contrasting ways by our report disproving the Chancellor’s lies
Relatively frequently during the year, we hit hundreds of thousands of voters with our messaging about a particular report. Sometimes the subject matter is so important, and so controversial, it produces extreme reactions from the public.
Such was the case yesterday, (Thurs, 30 Oct 2025), when GB News exclusively released its coverage of our report on real GDP growth since the EU Referendum in 2016.
Demolishing the credibility of the Chancellor of the Exchequer
On numerous occasions in the past three weeks Rachel Reeves had implied that Brexit had caused a 4% drop in GDP. From the IMF’s annual meeting in Washington DC to her brief visit to the Middle East, she repeated the damaging and false allegation. Attempts had been made by various authors and organisations to correct this, to no avail.
In short, before the further allegations of improper behaviour in her private life had engulfed the Chancellor, our report completely demolished the economic credibility of Rachel Reeves. We provided our analysis of the official figures from the Office for National Statistics and the EU’s equivalent, proving beyond doubt that her claims that ‘Brexit ate my homework’ were completely fictitious.
No, Brexit has not been responsible for a 4% fall in GDP and it is not responsible for Reeves’ books-balancing crisis and likely tax rises in her forthcoming budget.
Our fightback began early yesterday…

In the early hours of yesterday morning, GB News started splashing its coverage of our analysis of the true picture for the UK’s GDP.
Within hours Adam Chapman, one of GBN’s Editors, had messaged our Chairman: “This is wild. It’s flying.”
Both we and CIBUK published our original versions of the report in time for most people’s breakfast. If you missed it we thoroughly recommend taking a few minutes to read it now, being one of the more important pieces of the year. Two members of the team were still flat out promoting on social media channels when our inboxes rapidly started filling and individual messages of congratulation began coming in from senior politicians.

Ahead of GB News’ morning Editors conference we were asked to provide some additional supporting information and following the meeting we received confirmation our report was going on TV. This had been planned days in advance but readers will know the news agenda can change at a moment’s notice and something that is planned to be a lead item one minute can be ‘bumped’ for a story about a Royal having his titles stripped… for example. (Fortunately the news about Mr Mountbatten Windsor broke after what follows.)
“Rule Britannia, surfing atop the waves” – Martin Daubney
All morning our social media boards had been lighting up. Many of the early responses were appreciative and kind, before the abuse started. We say more about this in Our ‘Observations’ below.
The show chosen to give prominence to our report was The Martin Daubney Show, a very popular part of GB News’ programming which runs from 3-6pm each weekday. Our Chairman had asked Ben Philips, Deputy Chairman and Comms Director of The Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIBUK.Org) and Deputy Chairman of Brexit Facts4EU, to represent us. The resultant segments on Martin’s show were explosive and made for great television.
Our report was Martin’s first major story and we recommend watching the clip below, which lasts six minutes.
NOTE: YouTube allows us to select the start time of each clip, but not the stop time. Readers will just have to stop the video when it comes to the obvious end of the segment in question.
It didn’t stop there
As the day wore on our information was mentioned many times. Here is another example from The Martin Daubney Show.
Now for what we are up against – Rejoiners’ blind refusal to accept facts
If you only watch one clip, we recommend this one. It exemplifies perfectly why we have been forced to carry on for 10 years, when everyone on the team simply wished to go back to their normal lives and jobs once the Referendum had been won.
This clip features former Minister Norman Baker. Being a LibDem, he believes the UK should be back in the EU as a full member. Martin put to him our latest official data showing that the ‘4% drop in GDP due to Brexit’ myth had been completely disproven by the facts.
Don’t leave this to someone else. You are that ‘someone else’.
For readers who can’t play a video in their current location, some excerpts
Extraordinarily, despite being presented with the facts proving the opposite, Norman Baker continued to repeat the Rejoiner lie. He started, however, promisingly:
Norman Baker: “Look, I mean, I’m not one who’s going to blame Brexit for everything.”
This soon changed, however:
Norman Baker: “The 4% impact on GDP from leaving the European Union is a figure which is shared not just by the Treasury. been around for some time and genuinely independent it’s not true. Well genuinely independent economists say that’s what’s happened. That’s a figure they generally use-”
Martin: “Well Norman, the data that I just put on the screen – just to be absolutely clear – it’s the ONS data for the United Kingdom so it’s the official data and it’s the Eurostat’s data, which is the equivalent as you know for the European Union nations. It’s abundantly clear that the truth of the matter is the United Kingdom has outperformed the biggest economies in the European Union since Brexit.”
Norman Baker: “It’s perfectly possible to reconcile your graph which I can’t see with the 4% reduction because it may well be would have performed even better had we been in the European Union.”
Martin: “Well, it may be that we would have performed even better if we’d have had a proper Brexit and for example kept our fishing industry, for example. Been able to have had our own independent regulatory framework of trade, our own tax regulation, our own tax framework. We could have been even better.
“But you can’t see the data, but you trust me, we like each other. So, having heard my thesis I’ve put forward, Norman Baker, are you prepared to perhaps admit Britain could have been handed a Brexit bonus here?”
Norman Baker: “I doubt that. I doubt it. I mean, I talked to small businesses who have given up exporting to the European Union because there’s so much paperwork.”
Finally, we made the front page again in the evening
Despite the latest breaking news of Rachel Reeves’s property transactions, followed by HM King Charles announcing that Prince Andrew was to be stripped of all Royal titles and honours, last night our story made the front page of GB News.

Observations
Judging from the abusive messages sent to us on social media, Norman Baker’s refusal to accept the official facts which disprove the Rejoiners’ mantra is typical. The hard-core, extremist, quasi-religious zealots who believe in the EU as though it’s a matter of faith will simply never accept any facts. We intend to explore this subject in more detail before we stop publishing.
The CIBUK team, together with colleagues at Facts4EU, had become a little tired of hearing the oft-repeated mantra that the UK’s GDP is 4% lower as a result of Brexit. As is common with such things, this has been contorted from its original form and repeated so many times that for many Rejoiners it is part of their Holy Scripture.
When we heard the Chancellor starting to quote this falsehood, from Washington DC to Saudi Arabia, it was clearly time to ‘knock this on the head’ once and for all. Dozens of articles have been written on this subject but none had made any impact on the hordes of Rejoiner zealots. More importantly, these articles had not managed to influence the much larger part of the population who are not obsessed with Brexit but had absorbed the bombardment of completely false accusations made by the hard-core extremists.
A great success
We are sure that most readers will understand that to gain this kind of coverage – which we do on a regular basis – takes a great deal of work and preparation in advance. Then in addition to dealing all day with the media outlet in question, there is a constant amount of work required to promote the material on social media. This is to say nothing of all the initial work that goes into researching the information, condensing it into short reports which people look forward to reading, and all the coding and artwork before it can be published.
In the case of this report, we hit hundreds of thousands of voters. It made a difference and ‘shifted the dial’. Most people are reasonable, and when presented with facts which are incontrovertible they will absorb them, even if this means reassessing what they had previously believed to be true.
We will never convert the Rejoiner extremists, but that has never been our goal. There are some people you just can’t help. But we can – and do – make a difference to public opinion more widely.
Please, please help us to carry on our vital work in defence of independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom by donating today. Thank you.
