The Prime Minister begging Brussels for permission to abolish tax on tampons demonstrates who governs Britain

The independent Labour Peer, Lord Stoddart of Swindon, has vociferously pointed out that the fact that Prime Minister David Cameron has had to go “cap in hand to Brussels to beg for permission to abolish the tax on tampons is clear and unequivocal evidence that this country is governed by the European Commission in Brussels and not our Government and Parliament at Westminster.”

Lord Stoddart said:  “It is absolutely humiliating to see our Prime Minister forced to beg for concessions on this iniquitous tax from unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.  For millions of women tampons are an absolutely essential item and this is proof positive that our country has been humbled by EU membership.  If anyone was still in doubt about who governs Britain, they know now.”
